For as long as I can remember I've always known that I like to do a lot I like to take advantage of various business opportunities new tools new apps new networking opportunities all those different kinds of things.
I've learned to seriously prioritize... and by prioritizing I mean having to cut some things. Even the things that I really really love to do. Now don't worry I'm not saying that the things you love should go away forever, but what I am saying is that you need to lead with one major thing. I'll repeat, you should lead with one really important thing and then allow the other things to flow as a natural yet strategic outgrowth.
For example, I am a passionate artist. I have always loved art. In fact, I did art in elementary school, middle school, high school, and college. Now as an adult, one of my favorite art mentors who also happens to be a very successful business woman and a very talented and gifted artist, she encouraged me to seriously pursue art about 5 years ago. I even joined an artist Association where I grew through ranks, making it all the way to become the Chair of their public relations committee.
My art was hung in prestigious venues all over town. However, I realized that with my art I had to take a seasonal approach. What I mean by the seasonal approach is creating art only when I'm inspired. Second, creating art during a few weeks in the fall. This is true for a few reasons: I only want to do it when I'm inspired. I only want to do art that personally love. I only want to do art that I feel proud of.
Which leads me to the point of this blog post and the bottom line is that, yes you can have it all but not at the same time. For now, cut some things that you don't need that are not are working well. What you'll find is that you will have more peace and you'll make room for the things that God actually has for you in this season!
